A. It sounds like your Master File Table has become corrupted. It could also be the enclosure as the other answer stated. Try his suggestion of removing it from the case and connecting it directly to your computer. If that does not work send it to a professional data recovery lab for evaluation. The major U.S. recovery labs are Gillware, DriveSavers and OnTrack. Gillware has an online estimate tool and offers free evaluations.. not sure the other two offer either.
How do I recover my document files?
Q. Hey guys,
I made a mistake by trowing away some documents, like photos and such :(
I tried system recovery, but it didn't work, it did not bring back the files.
Does anyone know another way to get them back? You would really help me out here
Thanks,
Jason

TestDisk, Data Recovery (Windows/Mac/Linux) : http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download
TestDisk is a powerful free data recovery software! It is designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally deleting a Partition Table). Partition table recovery using TestDisk is really easy.
Features : * Fix partition table, recover deleted partition * Recover FAT32 boot sector from its backup * Rebuild FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 boot sector * Fix FAT tables * Rebuild NTFS boot sector * Recover NTFS boot sector from its backup * Fix MFT using MFT mirror * Locate ext2/ext3 Backup SuperBlock * Undelete files from FAT, NTFS and ext2 filesystem * Copy files from deleted FAT, NTFS and ext2/ext3 partitions.
TestDisk has features for both novices and experts. For those who know little or nothing about data recovery techniques, TestDisk can be used to collect detailed information about a non-booting drive which can then be sent to a tech for further analysis. Those more familiar with such procedures should find TestDisk a handy tool in performing onsite recovery.

How to recover a files from Mac?
Q. I accidentally deleted some files. I also deleted them from the trash. Is there any way I will be able to recover those files. Its about 30 Gb and this is a video footage. Its very important I will appreciate any help.
Thank you
Thank you
A. There are plenty of tools available, but no free ones that I now of. Check out the tools under the "Data Recovery" section of this site: http://www.pure-mac.com/diag.html
Personally I'd recommend DiskWarrior if you can afford it, as it includes a lot of other tools to help if your hard disk or any data on it gets corrupted or your Mac won't boot. Also, if you're using Leopeard, make sure you keep regular backups to an external drive using Time Machine. If you're using Tiger, set up automatic backups with CarbonCopyCloner ( http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html ).
