Q. Hi, I have WD My Book 2TB external hard disk USB 3.0 which was bought 8 months ago and now its not working. The problem is,my computers detect it but its not opening and a pop up comes saying I/O error, disk not accessible. I use windows vista.Please help. I have important files and photos. The data recovery center nearby is very expensive asking 20,000 Rs. My disk itself is 5000Rs. Also please suggest a best software freeware to recover my data. Thanks a lot.

Can you see the contents of an external hard drive after its been unplugged?
Q. I had an external hard drive loaded onto my computer, but it dropped and died. I want to review what was on there (filenames, not contents, obviously) to see if its worth sending to data recovery.
Is there some way to see that? The folders were visible on my computer at one time, and I haven't shut it off or cleared the RAM. Any ideas?

A. with compupic pro i am being able to do that
but i erases after you disconnect a drive, as an usb memory pof a hard drive.
And cenatek's ramdisk is able to load all of a program into memory, that it means that kind of things its possible.
The problem is how to take data bak from memory to hard disk. Its like when you rise the buffer on winamp, you place a cd, load the winamp buffer (eg. 55000kb) and then expulse the cd and the music still is playing on winamp.
I was looking many time ago a software like that and nothing appears yet.

40-GB HDD's are usually NTFS File Systems..less would find themselves in the FAT32 File System..

DELETE the Partiton..re-create the partition..useing Logical drive..NTFS(over 40-GBs)..and Default-allocation..

I use 80-GBs for a System C:/drive..adding in..external HDD's//for stroage drives..USB 2.0//or//internal storage is S-ata..MOLEX-connector//I use a Seagate-1TB..drive.
