Download to get deleted pictures back for free?

Q. I've downloaded around three different things that said that if you download this you'll get your pictures back for free. But in the end you have to pay to get them back! Anybody know any downloads that will really get your pictures back for free? Thank you in advanced.

A. Try Recuva:
http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Recuva is a well reviewed and respected file recovery application that you can download and use for free. No gotchas or tricks (like finding files and then making you pay to recover them).

If possible, download Recuva's Portable Version onto another computer and make a USB drive to recover the files from your computer. The more you install on the computer with the accidentally deleted photos, the more likely that you will overwrite the photo's data resulting in an inability to recover the lost files. Since the portable version runs entirely from the USB drive, without installing anything on your computer, you increase the likelyhood of recovering you precious lost images.

Good luck!

How can I recover an accidentally deleted file?
Q. I accidentally deleted a video file. It was too large for the recycle bin, so it was deleted and I don't have the option of restoring it there. Can anyone help me? I know data from deleted files is stored until the allocation is over-written, but I don't know how to restore it.

A. I did the same thing, and the only way to get it back is to buy or download a file recovery program. The faster you act, and the less you do before you try to scan for files to restore the better your chances. Because when you write to your drive there's a high chance the data you just deleted will be overwritten.

http://www.recuva.com/ is a free undelete program you could try. Just try to restore it to a different drive or partition for greatest chance of success... The less you do the more likely you will be able to save the data. Every time you save something you reduce the chance of recovering your data a little more. Also you should probably download that onto a USB or something that's not your own hard drive. Hope that helps.

How do you recover deleted pictures froma camera?
Q. I have a nikon s230 and i know about those downloads but how can they detect you camera to find you memory card?!!? I want to know a free a nd simple way to recover my deleted pictures from my camera! Please help.

A. You can very often recover deleted pictures from a camera memory card or USB Memory stick. However, to increase the chances of being able to recover pictures after they have been deleted you must not save any new photos, files or data to it.

When you delete pictures (or any files) from a memory card or USB memory device the data itself isnt deleted, just the file system pointers that says where the data for those files is located. The area where the deleted picture data was stored is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it is too late to recover your deleted pictures so it is very, very important that new pictures or files arent saved to the memory card in the meantime.

One of the easiest ways to see if your deleted pictures can be recovered is to try some photo recovery software. One tip is to try a free trial version of a commercial product that will scan the memory card for deleted pictures and show you exactly what pictures can be recovered. At least that will show you if you can recover the deleted pictures or if its too late already. You can find more useful information on recovering deleted pictures from a USB memory stick or camera card at http://www.recoverdeletedpictures.com

Is there any way to retrieve deleted data from an LG Voyager?
Q. I hadn't saved them onto a memory card or anything. I deleted some very important photos that I need back. I have the data transfer cable with me. What programs are out there I can use that can recover the lost data?

Also, preferably via bluetooth.
And if there are no programs, is there any other way? I'm willing to go to great lengths .

A. First thing to note is that the deleted data on the phone will remain there until something new is saved and overwrites it. This might not happen immediately but eventually, after continued use, it will.
Either connect the phone straight to a PC using a USB cable (if supplied with the phone) or take the card out and put it in a card reader attached to the PC.
Then try some photo recovery software on the PC. This should recognise the phone or card and then you can scan it using the free download of some good photo recovery software like asoftech photo recovery. That will show you what files still exist on the phone or card and what can be recovered.
