A. Your hard drive has a problem, and may fail at any time.  You need to make sure your hard drive backup is up to date.  I'd recommend taking a full hard drive image using Windows Backup, or a more thorough option in Paragon Hard Disk Manager from http://www.paragon-software.com/home/hdm-personal/   (A good free alternative is Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 (Advanced) Free from http://www.downloadcrew.com/article/13247-paragon_backup__recovery_2012_free )

Once you've done this, then you can hit that F2 key as instructed, and run the Hard Disk test.  If it comes up clean, then you're ok, but if it detects faults, you may need to buy a new hard drive.  The advantage of using the Paragon program to make a hard drive image is that you can copy it to the new hard drive and have Windows up and running again just like it was in a few hours.

windows 7 admin password?
Q. is there a way for me to find out what the administrative password on my computer is, without having to reset it? i mean, is there a way to go through the data files and find the password somewhere?

any help is appreciated. thanks

A. Hello! You can use [Windows Password Rescuer] to find all your user accounts and reset/remove their password instantly then you can access as those user without password. This software supports Windows 7/vista/xp/2008/2003/2000 password recovery.

You also can use it to add a new user account with admin privileges without logon, then login as this new user to remove/reset your forgotten user password from control panel.

For Windows 7 password Recovery, there is a useful tool,[Daos Windows 7 Password Recovery Tool]

I highly recommend you to use [Daos Password Recovery 2012], it is an all-in-one password recovery software, which recover password for Windows, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, RAR/WinRAR, ZIP/WinZIP, PDF etc. Over 70+ types of passwords can be recovered instantly.

I recovered my .txt file using Piriform Recuva, but got this very odd code...?
Q. Can this be translated/decoded? If yes, where/how can I do that and what would I need to download? A little piece of the code:
Ƽ`óË1¾ó\68(4S22sA#Dâ¢ÃaÂ⡞Â8ÅR|â4Â}
Lâ¢8ÃL Ã@XÃJÅIÃÃÃLhÃ]â¢QAËâ¦Æ âà ˬtÃâ¢

The data contained in this .txt file is worth about 150 hours of work, so I really want it back...

A. Your files were not recovered intact. All you can do is to try a better data recovery software to recover your files. For data recovery program, I have a professional one on my computer that can It can recover data after deeply scanning your memory stick to look for lost data. You can download it and scan your memory stick for free to preview whether your files can be recovered.
