How can I recover data/pictures deleted from my mac?

Q. I emptied my trash without knowing there were files I still wanted in there. I've tried to use Stellar Phoenix data recovery, but when i run it, it doesn't find my hard drive to search for data recovery. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling it and it doesn't seem to install properly. I'm hesitant to pay a lot of money to download software that I'm not sure will work, any suggestions? thanks

A. Diskgetor deleted data recover software is the professional deleted data data restore tool
If the images you want to recover are on a Flash memory card or in your camera or iPod then they can still be recovered using the same type of recovery software. You should connect the external storage media to your computer first, and make sure that the DiskGetor can access it like a removable hard drive.

What software and/or physical tools to computer technicians use to recover crashed hard drive data?
Q. when it is a mechanical failure and they need to remove the disk inside the drive. And is there a special machine they use to hook up that hard drive disk to?
I have most of the software for recovering data, but nothing to assist me if the hard drive fails mechanically.

A. Yes, there is a machine that they use to recover some stuff. Also they have to try and clean the drive so they don't get any failures as well. If you want to try and recovery this at home you will have to pay a good sum of money for the programs.

how to recover data from encrypted partition after windows have been formatted?
Q. Hi, I am looking for means (data recovery tool or any other method) by which I can recover data from a hard disk which was encrypted using Safeguard Easy from Utimaco. The data is absolutely important to me. The OS (XP) was formatted and safeguard reinstalled. However the old partitions remain beyond capture. If you can please help me in this, I would remain ever grateful.

A. Without knowing specifically how Safeguard Easy actually encrypts data, I cannot give a definite answer, but here are some general insights I can give:

1. When the OS is reinstalled, it is usually possible to recover an old journal, FAT, or bitmap (depending on the filesystem.)

2. You will lose *all* data that was overwritten when the OS was reinstalled, unless you want to pay upwards of $100k to have the drive magnetically imaged. Even then it's highly unlikely anything more than fragments would be recovered.

3. If individual files were encrypted, it is a simple matter of recovering said files and decrypting them.

4. You're SOL if the encryption process involved anything more than an encryption key. If it is tied into a security token for the user account, or salted with anything that is non-persistant, it's gone.

5. If the entire (or most) of the drive itself was encrypted, not just file contents, you're SOL.

6. 3rd party encryption software is a bad idea in most cases. You are far better off using OS functionality to protect your data. BitLocker is a very good encryption system, especially on systems with a Trusted Platform Module (1.2 or later).
