A. No data recovery is too big of a business to give it away.
Yes, there are a LOT of programs you can down load for free and they will show you they did recover your data, but you then have to pay to actually make it work.
I bought a new 4Gb memory card quite a while ago, it came with a full version of a data recovery prg. It works, but is keyed to me. Look for such a deal at your local computer / digital camera supply store and go from there..
Good luck

jpgs are not found :[ PLEASE HELP!?
Q. on my camera, the files are saved to my computer as jpgs. i edit my pictures on photoshop and resave them as pngs, if i like them.
so for some reason in my newest folder i cant open my pictures, it doesn't even show the jpg icons. it says theres nothing in it.
where'd they go? and in my folders from a few days ago it only shows .pngs, not the jpgs i didn't edit.
i'm so confused :[

A. At least your not confused alone...!
In the last 2 days in 2 separate folders of viewable jpgs, I too have lost some where near 800 images. Oh, they seem to be there, but will not open and any viewer I try to use will not open them. All I get is - No Preview Available. Nothing seems to open today what opened Sunday.
Now, I had heard of a virus, still looking for THAT tid bit of information tho, that 'may' be at fault here. Something, somehow scrambles up the headers and footers of the HEX #'s that make up the jpg image. If these #'s get corrupted, scrambled or deleted, all the info OF the JPG can still be there, you just can't see it or open it anymore.
I found the virus, actually a worm "brontok" - http://www.adwarealert.com/glossary_details.php?ID=3198 - but it seems to be more of a e-mail worm.. However this turned up in another thread relating to OUR problem - http://forums.getdata.com/computer-data-recovery/880-jpeg-preview-not-available.html ...
I found a prg that is working as we speak to salvage images. It can be found at - http://www.recovermyfiles.com/ - and if I have to pay to get my images back, I will... But...
What happened..? Why there one day and not, not the next..? I did nothing new or different than before..
Anyone..?
