Why wont my computer read my micro sd card?

Q. I plug it into my computer using the sd adapter and i keep getting an error message saying the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. What do i do now?
Yeah the sd for my phone worked. Do you think i can return it?

A. Try a different SD card if it works the problem is with the card (not the card reader if other cards dont work buy a new card reader). if other cards work, Then the card is most likely corrupted, and the data is inaccessible. Try a commercial file recovery utility like Disk Salvage, File Recovery Norton, or System Mechanic to get your data back, though these programs are not guaranteed.. All is not loss even though the card is corrupted reformating it in the device you use it with will block out the bad parts of the card resulting in a card with a lower capacity but otherwise useable. I recommend reformating any form of removable media(SD-RW, DVD-RW, Compact flash, SD, XD, Memory Stick, Floppy Disks) every 6 months (after backing them up to your hard drive).

Extract flies from an unformated card?
Q. I have an xd card and I inserted it in my computer after an unsuccessful try to open the photos inside it I unplugged it and replugged it. Now it shows that the card must be formated. Is there anyway to reach the data without formating the card? Any program or something else?

A. google for "memory card recovery" there are plenty tools out there, most have a free trial that shows if it can see any files to recover, and you only pay if th efiles are worth recovering.

Where can I get pictures retrieved from memory stick that has been damaged?
Q. I think I may damaged it by using a DIGITAL picture frame that didn't work right

A. I just checked with a local "data recovery store" and they will "attempt" to recover images from a damaged memory card (only SD /SDHC or CF cards at this store) for $300, whether or not they are successful.

The local Ritz Camera charges $40 if they are successful and can accommodate CF, SD / SDHC, xD and Memory Sticks and do not charge if they cannot recover images

If there is any physical damage to the card, it can get rather expensive real fast

If by "damaged" you mean corrupted, Lexar makes an image recovery program that actually works for under $35. That way if you have a card or file that becomes corrupted in the future, you will have the ability to recover it.
