Q. I have an old WD Caviar 1624.6Megabyte hard drive from 1996 that had the click of death a few years ago. When I plug it in, it sounds like the platters are spinning up then the loud clicking goes on for a few seconds, stops, then it sounds like the platters are starting to spin up again, and then the clicking continues. The files arent that valuable. The only files I had on it was the OS (Windows 98) and a few pictures i drew with paint when i was little. I would like to get the pics back, but it's ok if I don't, since $800 for data recovery isn't worth it to recover a few pics of spongebob. Would freezing the HDD work?
A. Most unlikely
Where in Bangalore can I find a good data recovery place for an external Seagate hard drive?
Q. Need help recovering data from a corrupt drive and see if its fixable.
A. Search the newspapers for a good recovery agent in your locality. But, it will cost you upwards of Rs. 2000.
A simple solution is to get a good recovery tool & do it yourself.
I use File Scavenger & it does a fab job & more importantly, you can use it as many times as you want & also confidential data is not seen by anyone as it is when a recovery guy fixes your HDD.

Sell a desktop computer what is it worth?
Q. Been looking on ebay and craigslist and i usually sell newer pcs but i have this pc i had given for data recovery. Its a home built nice metal case, 3 bays, asus motherboard with 2pci e slots and a few other, dual core 2.0 2.0 processor, 2 gig ram, 250 gig sata seagate hdd tested and passed tests, video on board but can be expanded with the pciexpress slots, build on sound card, dvd rw, windows 7 pro, office 2007 , all fresh install. The usual keyboard, mouse, power cord. I was thinking a hundred bux is decent price to ask on my local work bulletin board.
A. A hundred bucks would sound good to me i would go even higher if i was you as windows 7 alone is worth $100 so id start at $250 if i was you but not being able to see it idk the shape or exact things.
