Q. I was trying to take the pictures off of the card and onto a thumb drive, but the whole thing kindof messed up. The computer no longer "read" my card, and my camera now prompts "Format now?" which would erase the pictures. Is there anyway I can still get these pictures?
A. At this point, you are going to need to format the card. After you format the card, run a recovery program like Softperfect File Recovery (it's free and works well) to attempt to get the images. You will likely lose some of the images, but some may be recoverable. The only other option is to send the card to a professional that restores lost data. That can cost hundreds of dollars.
My pictures on my SD have gotten corrupted but I can't find recovery SW that works, can I do it manually?

Extract flies from an unformated card?
Q. I have an xd card and I inserted it in my computer after an unsuccessful try to open the photos inside it I unplugged it and replugged it. Now it shows that the card must be formated. Is there anyway to reach the data without formating the card? Any program or something else?
A. google for "memory card recovery" there are plenty tools out there, most have a free trial that shows if it can see any files to recover, and you only pay if th efiles are worth recovering.
