My Hard Drive Failed In My Mac. Is there anyway I can get my info back with out paying hundreds of dollars?
Q. So I knew my hard drive was going then the day i bought my time capsule it went completely. Took it to the apple store and it didn't show up on the device list. Every hard drive recovery service I've called is anywhere from $300-$2700. I really don't want to pay that can someone help me find an easier/cheaper solution?
Thanks so much!

A. That really sucks. Unfortunately, there is probably no way to recover your data without going to a pro. You should have bought your external HD sooner! Sorry again.
And FYI: You don't need to by an Apple brand "time capsule" hard drive, if other brands are cheaper. I have a Western Digital hd that works great.

How can I retrieve some travel pictures I lost when I had a computer crash.?
Q. I have heard there is some kind of software to open the deleted data of any computer. That the information contained in the hard disc never disappears, just gets compressed.
Any ideas or information is welcome.

A. It's true that simply deleting a file doesn't totally make it disappear, even when you clear the recycle/trash bin. However, the sectors that were used get marked for deletion. When the hard drive looks for space to write new data and happens to encounter those said sectors, whatever data that was there will be overwritten.
Therefore, it's very good practice that if you completely delete something and want it back, you should IMMEDIATELY perform an undelete to recover it. The longer you wait and continue to write new data, the less of a chance you have to fully recover those deleted files.
There are various software tools that offer the undelete facility; some are free while others have to be purchased. I can't recommend any because I'm a freak for making backups of my data, so I never need to undelete. However, a web search on UNDELETE PROGRAMS will give you a wealth of hits to explore.
You didn't say specifically how your computer crashed. If your hard drive survived, you can buy a cheap external case (USB or Firewire) and install the hard drive in it to attempt data recovery. If the drive is completely dead (it won't spin up at all), you'll have to utilize a data recovery service where they literally disassemble the drive to hopefully recover the data, which can be an expensive process.
Best of luck!
