how can i recover the data off a broken mp3 player?

Q. I have a philips mp3 player that got a dent in the back and stopped working. When i plug into a usb port nothing happens until i press the reset button, then the philips software recognizes it and tries to fix it but cant. the main chip in the player gets hot and i think its whats been damaged, the data chip seems fine. is there any way i can get the data off it?

A. Well, that depends. You have chance to get the music back unless your broken mp3 player can recognized by your PC. Then try some recovery software to see if the data can be recovered possibly.

If you are using computer with Windows OS, try this program called Wondershare Photo Recovery. this recovery program can deep san to look for lost pictures, videos and music you accidentally deleted or formatted, lost.

If you are using computer with Mac OS X, then turn to Wondershare Photo Recovery for Mac.

If still won't help, send your music player to a professional computer shop or for data recovery services.

How do I reset my mac to it's factory setting to sale it?
Q. I'm saleing my mac and I want to get rid of everything on it

A. Like I said last time you asked:

Boot from the OS CD and use disk utility to format the drive HFS Extended (Journaled). If you're paranoid, you may want to open the format options from that same screen and "zero" the drive. This will actually write over every bit of the drive with zeros to make data recovery far less likely.

Once you've formatted, you can proceed with the install as usual. It should be plenty clear.

At the end of the install, the machine will reboot and start asking for registration info and account creation and such. Don't enter any info. Just eject the disk, shut the computer down, and ship it off to it's new owner. When they boot it up it will be exactly as if they just bought a brand new Mac.

How do I creatre a encrypted partition one a USB stick that works with both Mac OSX and Windows?
Q. No programs please, as it has to work on multiple computers and I can't install software on all of them.

A. I know a usb encryption software that allows you to create an encryption on a usb stick and you can access to the encrypted partition in any computer even you hasn't installed the encryption software in your computer. But it seems only supports Windows.
