Can anyone recommend a data recovery service in New York City?

Q. I am looking for a good data recovery service (preferably in Manhattan) that is neither wildly expensive (preferably below $400), that will not destroy my hard drive. I've heard that bad data recovery services can actually make it impossible for you to ever get your data back. I don't want to lose my data to inexperienced people. Thanks for any advice.

Also, if there is a company that is really good and affordable that I can mail my Hard Drive to, then that might work too.

Thanks!

A. You might want to consider this alternative to having someone else do the work:
If you've got a lot of valuable files that must be recovered, have a look @ 'SpinRite' from GRC.
Does total disk maintenance; checks cable interfaces; many deep disk checks, recovers data & fixes HDD errors; etc.
THE industry standard.
About $90 US; money back if not satisfied.
Money back if not satisfied.
Google for reviews.
Well worth the money.

Works on Mac drives: use Spinrite first, then migrate drive & use the Mac recovery utility on the repaired data.
Does not work with newer "solid state" drives.

Is there any free data recovery software'full Version) for memory card?
Q. I am looking for a data recovery software for memory cards? Does anyone know any free software? I have searched softpedia, majorgeeks, zdnet and cnet. All of them are serving only demo version. And demo version can't save the files.

A. My God, you also suffered data lose. I suffered data lose the day before yesterday.
If these files are really important for you , I suggest you try professional recovery software even though it charges for money. I think your valuable files are more important than just few dollars.
The day before yesterday I searched for file recovery software, and finally I found a professional one. With this software,I got back all my deleted(Shift+Del) files with nice quality.
To be surprise, it can also recover photos, and partition.
I used it, you can specify a target folder, which means you don't need to scan all the data on the disk. first try the trail version. you can check if the files you need are recoverable form Preview Window to evaluate the quality before you buy.
Most important now it is on sale, maybe this news is exciting for you.

Any disk recovery utility to recover lost data on an NTFS partition using Ubuntu Linux?
Q. I use Ubuntu Linux 10.04, and I accidentally deleted my Windows XP partitions using GPartition on Ubuntu. I see many disk partition recovery utilities on the net, but none of them work on Linux. Can anyone help?

A. Try Testdisk. It runs on Linux, is free, and is also included with many LiveCDs. Thankfully I've only ever needed to use it twice.
