Q. I am trying to create a system recovery USB flash drive, on windows 7. The "error" message says that: DataSafe has detected that the USB key you have selected is protected by a utility software; we are unable to format this key. Is there anything I can do to the NEW $40 16 GB USB ScanDisk to make the program accept it??

i dont know about windows 7 i have used it once or twice it really sucks
i am using XP with linux so if my usb got stuck
i switch to ubuntu
open the external drive and change the file permission
then switch back to windows xp
do the file operation

A. I did a search and there seems to be a lot of sites referring to your problem in Google. I have not tried any and do not know which are free.

How to format Flash Drive with Unusual Software?
Q. When I plugged in the USB flash drive "Medefile" on my pc, the setup still there and it won't stop. Is there a possibly to format "D:" and "E:" and make it a default flash drive?

A. This has worked for me several times, so I will pass it on. Plug it in the port, heat it with a hair dryer, wait a minute, plug it in and out a couple times. If it still does not work try the same thing with compressed air to cool it. If it start working copy the data as it may stop working again any time...
