How can I see the contents of a folder containing photos and movies. It is full but nothing shows?

Q. If the contents are overwritten how can I reverse this operation. I know that the files are there, but nothing shows

A. I don't really get what ur point is. What do u mean by "If the contents are overwritten how can..........."
Anyway, I'll tell what I understood.
First, how do you know that contents r there?
Just because that u checked the directory's (that folder's) properties and it shows same amount of memory as is showed previously, or is there any other region for this...
See, the same memory as may b shown while right clicking the folder can also be (and most probably r) due to the other contents, that u overwrought.
Also, r u able to see the new contents, from which u replaced the older ones? If not then there must b a problem with ur explorer, or ur HDD.
Yeah, the most simple step is to just check that weather the hidden files r shown, cause they may be hidden. To to this, open your "My Computer" click tools menu, then Folder Option.
A popup window will open, in that window click on the view tab, and under the heading "hidden files and folder" mark show hidden files, if not set by default, u may also want to unhide system's protected file (this option is just below the previous one) cause, while replace the contents they cud have changed extension (its not obvious, though) which changed them to system's file.
If u find nothing then they r surely removed, the memory acquired can be of "temporary files" and all that stuff.

Now its time for other thing, as u've found that the contents r removed u'll be seeking to restore them. This work is done by file recovery software, u can find many by here:

how can I recover my files from a hard disc?
Q. I was surfing on the net, suddenly my laptop shut down. There was no way to restore it so I formatted and repartitioned it. Is there a free software that can guarantee me to recover my old files before formating??
please the one who doesn't know how to deal with such problems let him not answer my question.
I really need your help... please help and get 10 points.

A. You state: "There was no way to restore it so I formatted and repartitioned it." If this is what you REALLY did, then it is very unlikely you will find anything for free which will recover anything. You can try a search for an unformat program at http://www.download.com or http://www.tucows.com and see what turns up. Both sites have a wealth of free and shareware programs available. The problem is when you formatted the disk after repartitioning it, you wrote over the old directory with a new blank directory. In essence, if you think of this like a map, you erased all of the street names. The contents of the rest of the disk may still be there, but you no longer have the street directions to locate anything. There are some commercial programs which can make a decent stab at recovering information. Ontrack Systems sells a very good package I've used before. However, even though a program can reconstruct files to some extent, MOST will only be partially recovered. A computer forensic specialist can recover more but the tools he would use cost thousands of dollars. The hard part about recovery is fragmented files. There is no way to locate all of the pieces or to even know how many pieces the file was split into once the directory information is wiped, so each fragment ends up being recovered as a separate file and then you get to go through each and piece the file back together by hand, which is rather tedious, but if something like a plain text file can be done. And since all of the file names were erased, the recovered files are all simply numbered in the sequence recovered starting with the first sector of data. A graphic image file in pieces would be almost impossible to piece back together. Still, try a search at the sites I listed above and see what you can find. Good luck in this but I would not be very optimistic about recovering anything you can use. And for next time, invest in a decent hard disk backup program and make sure it works...

Is there any way to recover deleted pictures on your camera even AFTER you took more pictures?
Q. i accidentally deleted all my camera's pictures from a concert, but I took some pictures yesterday at a friend's wedding..can I still recover the deleted pictures?

A. The answer is Yes, it's highly possible to recover the deleted pictures even if you have taken more pictures. AS this happened just yesterday. So it think you still have great chance to get your deleted pictures back. And the best way is to try a picture recovery tool.

I find this places talking abou FREE Recovery Software:

But there are so many times freeware won't help, then you can use some professional picture recovery tools. Recommended one is Wondershare Photo Recovery. Though it's shareware, the free trial version allows you to deep scan your your camera memory card to seek the deleted pictures. You can try the trial version to check if your pictures deleted are still recoverable, and then decide whether to pay 29 $ to purchase the full version or not. Download the picture recovery program here,

If you are using Mac, then turn to Wondershare Photo Recovery for Mac,

One more tip: No matter what programs you will take, before your deleted pictures are recovered, please don't save more files to the memory card(do not take more pictures) where those deleted pictures located in case they are overwritten.

Best regards

Jack
