Is it possible to recover data from a macbook that wont start?

Q. My mac's still under warranty but I don't want to pay for data recovery. Is there any way I can do it myself?

A. There's no reason to assume that there is any damage to the hard drive just because the computer won't boot. There could be some other hardware failure that didn't affect the hard drive.

Boot from a LiveCD and see if the internal HD mounts. If it does, then you've probably got some other hardware failure.

If you don't have an optical drive, you could boot from an external hard drive with a usable OS on it and then try to mount the internal HD.

HELP! How to recover files from an external hard drive after accidentally repartitioning?
Q. I have a g-drive that i use for business to do video projects. I use a far superior mac but i was trying to get a file from a windows computer, so in the process i accidentally repartitioned the drive. Help. I need those files. I already did a basic scan with data recovery 2, but i can't get it to work. I am now doing a thorough scan, but i dont think it will work. any suggestions?

A. You can try to use Easy Drive Data Recovery software to recover your files:

It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.
